My story of survival, from 7/7 bombings to Paralympics success
After losing her legs in the Circle Line bombing during the 2005 London terrorist attacks, Martine Wright rebuilt her life with remarkable purpose. From skydiving and becoming a mother and wife to becoming the Captain of the British Paralympic sitting volleyball team and earning a pilot’s license, Martine epitomizes overcoming adversity.
Representing Team GB at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, she has become a widely recognized television personality, covering events like the Paralympics and Invictus Games for the BBC and Channel 4, and serving as a roving reporter at the 2016 Rio Paralympics. Her dedication has been honored with the 2012 Sports Personality of the Year, recognition as one of the Inspirational Women of the Year by Zest Magazine, and as a Vitalise Woman of Achievement.
In June 2016, Martine was appointed MBE, and her bestselling book “Unbroken” won Autobiography of the Year at the 2018 Sports Book Awards.
